Laser marking with YJ LINK
Laser marking with YJ LINK
Traceability concepts and customer requirements demand distinct traceability of PCBs for each step of the process. There are different methods to mark a PCB with a unique marking. Using labels and marking the PCB directly are the most well-known procedures. But while a label can fade or fall off, a marking that was directly brought into the PCB material ensures traceability over the entire lifespan of the PCB. With YJ LINKs new laser marking machine, that is designed for speed and performance, PCBs can be marked quickly and sustainably.
With the CO2 laser by YJ LINK, you can mark your printed circuit boards clearly, reliably, quickly and permanently: 1D and 2D codes as well as logos or characters are applied to the surface of a wide variety of materials using the latest laser technology.
Thanks to the integrated high-speed turning-station, it takes only one process step to mark your PCBs on both sides.
For a precise placement of the marking even on crowded PCBs, the code can be projected on the PCB prior to marking.
Despite the integrated turning station and a large processable PCB format, the system has a small footprint due to its compact design.
The integrated surface ionization unit ensures a electrostatically discharged PCB after the laser process.
We realize the MES connection for you and provide the necessary automation - whether as an isolated solution or integrated into a production line.
The powerful, two-stage extraction system with pre-filter and HEPA filter reliably extracts all particles generated and ensures a clean marking process.
The code contents can be specified by a higher-level MES system or locally. The contents can be selected flexibly and can be constants (e.g. the serial number) or variables (e.g. the counter for the serial number).
"Engraving" the code
A CO2-laser selectively ablates the PCB material. This causes a color change in the solder resist; the marking becomes visible.
Cleaning the PCB
The material, that is evaporated during the laser process, is extracted immediately to prevent residues on the PCB.
The most commonly asked questions regarding laser marking
Since the YJ LINK laser marker is completely enclosed and equipped with additional safety measures such as a door interlock, the system has laser class 1.
A laser safety officer is therefore not required to operate the system.
Laser markers can usually laser all common types of codes as well as clear text. With the laser marker from YJ LINK, 2D codes such as QR codes and Data Matrix codes, 1D codes such as bar codes as well as plain texts, logos and images can be realized as marking on the PCB.
A laser marker can be used to laser mark codes of almost any size. However, in order to be readable by standard scanners, a Data Matrix code should not be smaller than 2mm x 2mm.
With the laser describer from YJ LINK, the code contents can be permanently defined in the system or dynamically specified as variables. Presetting the code contents via an interface is also possible.
Yes, with the YJ LINK laser marker, the same counter can be used on the top and bottom of the PCB.
